New Year's Eve

The Year , 2009 has , after offering us a roller coaster ride , has returned to its staring point , from where a new ride christened "2010" is ought to lead off . As far my knowledge of Physics goes , the displacement is zero but that is a pessimistic view . As everything has a brighter side , distance traversed will be obviously non-zero and so will be the experiences gathered during the sojourn - this must be the view of a true optimist. This year I have directed 2 films with immense and indispensable aid from my close friends and derived intense satisfaction from the creation , however small it may be. Now , it's becoming self-centered discussions . So , I would rather stretch the limit to country , at least i.e. what the country has observed through the eyes of its citizens. A global recession did hit INDIA like many other countries of the world resulting in loss of jobs and a scene of extreme hopelessness amongst all sections of the society . AILA did blow off our hats and huts making many of us without a home . Trees fell down like anything failing to resist it but succeeding to cut off power transmitted through overhead lines . But who are we to claim the NATURE ........ extreme weather events are but the extreme protest forms of NATURE to our atrocity of deforestation and polluting NATURE............Global Warming has today made the scientists around the globe rethink about exploiting natural resources to fulfill our needs . Conferences @ Copenhagen are a proof to that but responsible thinking must be developed within every being of the Earth otherwise we have to think whether other planets can be made suitable for human inhabitancy or not . Inflation has made it hard to meet the ends of middle class families and obviously those below that .

Brighter Side(s) : (1) Water found on the surface of Moon . (2) 3 Indians bagged 4 oscars . (3)India based documentary and feature film won oscars . (4) An Indian bagged the NOBEL prize for CHEMISTRY ............and a lot which can't be expressed by words or bought with Master Cards

Let's wish 2010 will multiply the positive part with a positive multiplier(of course) such that it overshadows the negative part , if any .

U-TURN , THE BIGGEST FACULTY FRESHERS in town was born in 2003 and after experiencing 6 long years' life at Jadavpur University it is now 7 yrs old and is set to celebrate it's 7th birthday at U-TURN 2009

This extravaganza is probably the heart throb of all college students of kolkata , to say the least ........students work out innovative plans day and night for a betterment in celebration every year........so its ought to be the best in it's spirit , the way it's carried out....................it's truly filled with sounds of laughter , jubilance , adoration all in proper resonance.......The name itself suggests something about the event.............

The first day will see students (freshers) perform in any and every possible way they can ranging from quizzes to choreography and plays while the second day is kept aside for guest performance .last year it was PRALAY from MUMBAI ................let's see who comes this time

"Since my schooldays I have an innate addiction for films . Every year after the annual exams we used to get a month's holiday before the commencement of a new session.I never felt any excitement in reading story books which cost me many a scoldings ......but  I never do things which I don't love to....so I used to sit with a remote and surf the TV channels......I must mention there was neither  computer nor any  DVD/VCD  player in our house then...............besides playing with my elder cousin , I used to watch films and soaps on the TV.....like a swallow bird I used to wait to watch a current film on our local channel because u know that other channels don't  show  latest films.........

This addiction is within me till now................it has only magnified itself .....this isn't a bad addiction ..I don't think so.......I don't know what others think......I don't even care ..............

FILMS FORM A MIRROR OF THE SOCIETY WE LIVE IN

CHOICE OF FILMS :

I mainly watch hindi movies ...............(all possible) .It's not that I don't see bengali ones ............nowadays only few bengali movies are not rubbish..............I like to see bengali movies which are not stereotype love stories.....I like movies conveying a social message .....especially those of rituparno ghosh, aparna sen ,ritwik ghotok, satyajit ray......among others  .............or films that make people rethink about issues emphasized in that particular film...........that which is an allegory.........like DELHI 6.......

 "A WEDNESDAY"  exhibits antithetic perspectives of terrorism.........how an ordinary , apparently powerless person reacts to such cannibalism 

hon'ble director SATYAJIT RAY   is a perfectionist ...........people think through words ...he thinks through his films......even the invisible emotions of people are visible in his films...........

honb'le directors like Aparna Sen and Rituparno Ghosh try to follow the path he has shown and are successful in making meaningful films that make people think and perceive films in a different way

সিনেমা সম্বন্ধে আমার মু্ল্যহীন  অভিমত  :-

সাহিত্যের সঙ্গে সিনেমার খুব একটা পার্থক্য  লক্ষ্য করি না ...... উভয়ই সমাজের দর্পণ......গল্পের বই পড়ে  মানুষ যে জ্ঞান ও রসবোধ সঞ্চয় করে মনে হয় সিনেমার মাধ্যমে অধিক বৈ কম কিছু সঞ্চয় হয় না......অবশ্যই এর কোনটিকেই ছোট করে দেখানোর ধৃষ৳তা বা অভিপ্রায় আমার নেই.........সাহিত্যকে আম জনতার কাছে আরও সহজ উপায়ে তুলে ধরার গুরুভার পালন করে সিনেমা/নাটক/যাত্রা/পালা ......মানুষের মনে এক অক্ষয় প্রভাব বিস্তার করার ক্ষমতা রাখে ..........অবশ্যি এই  হ্মমতার যে অপব্যহার হয়না তা বললে মিথ্যাচার করা হবে  ; আমার মনে হয় সিনেমার মধ্য দিয়ে একটি গল্পের চরিত্রগুলিকে প্রান দানের কাজ ই করা হয় ...আমার সিনেমা দেখে মনে হয় এই একটা গল্প পড়ে উঠলাম তবে সেই প্রাণদান তথনই সম্পুর্ণ  হয় যখন চরিএ ও অভিনেতার সত্ত্বা মিলে মিশে একাকার হয়ে যায়.........আমাদের তখন মনে হয় হ্যা চরিএটা যেন একে মাথায় রেখেই লেখা হয়েছিল .........অনেকে থাকে না বইএর পোকা আমি সেরকম বই 

তথা সিনেমার পোকা .........উচচ মানের director - দের বই তে আবার গল্পের মুল বক্তব্য বোঝাতে কিছু ইশারা থাকে -সব সোজা সু্জি বলে দেওয়াটা তারা পছন্দ করেন না বরং দর্শকের  মগজাস্ত্র প্রয়োগের অবকাশ রাখতে ভালবাসেন .........  তথাকথিত intellectual সিনেমার পাশাপাশি তৈরী  হয়  হাসির উপাদানে ভরা ছায়াছবি ......সেই হাসির শব্দ  মানুষের দুঃখকে ক্ষণিকের জন্য হলেও নিবারণ করে .....আমার নিঃসগতার দোসর এই সিনেমা...................বক্তব্য আমার হইয়াও হইল না শেষ

 

APPARENT FLOCCINAUCIHILIPILIFICATION

TODAY  there was no college..........I was at home ..a litle bit of study in the morning followed by a peaceful sleep in the noon ( stretched till 6:00 p.m) ...........when I opened the windows of my room and cast a watchful eye at the horizon I beheld an altered view ........the fiery heat of the nucleus of our solar system was replaced by lightnings and rain on the canvas of nebulous , antagonized azure..................mercury levels were down as a result.........................................

after washing my face I sat on my bed , a pillow on my lap facing the window.....I took my cell....connected the earphone and started hearkening my favorite songs for half an hour only.............. yet...........the sound of music and a display of Nature's artistry together really refreshed my mind.....................how much i enjoyed can't be expressed in words although I have made an attempt to do so..............these moments really worth a king's ransom......it's of no comparison to any material success

If one calls this unsubstantial ....................I am telling I would like to encounter more such 

exciting  episodes  in future...........

RELATIONSHIP : IT'S ESSENCE IS FELT ONLY IN IT'S ABSENCE

A google search would not probably give u a perfect definition. You have to search your own life to find its actual meaning and a lifetime to understand it properly. I will express my views on RELATIONSHIP today and also those of eminent philosophers ...................................................

I think it's actually a clap where the hands symbolize 2 souls . Just as we know that a single hand is unable to produce a clap similarly relationship is also a mutual process . The souls should be in proper harmony to produce a good relationship which will respect feelings of both souls once properly produced . We must ensure that the sound of that clap reverberates forever within the sweet environment of interaction. As I have mentioned it earlier as a mutual process , so both the souls must be equally interested to maintain the echo of relationship...................................

There are various types of relationships but all are based on this ........I think

RELATIONSHIPS IN MY LIFE (SIGNIFICANT ONES ONLY)

MOTHER: She , although not a house-wife , spends much time with me .....how?

She loves me a lot and I too .....She always try to accompany me watching films with me , visiting relatives' house ...................after completing her household activities she does this .........hats off to her..............actually this is her immeasurable love that gives her this energy................it is needless to mention that she forms an integral part of my life .......my life is incomplete without her presence........this particular relationship can't be expressed in words ...........it can be only be felt...am I wrong MOM? to him I am always his little BABU

FATHER: I am quite confused about my feelings about him . Hope he isn't..............I would have been a happier person if I wasn't confused......TO HIM I AM subho

GRANDMOTHER: hey here comes the lady who I love very much sometimes more than my mother........(honestly speaking)....a lady with a quality to mingle with persons of any age .......I lady who is not only a mute listener to my jokes, stories of college,etc.......we often discuss about the college boycotts and other happenings , economic recession .,global warming ................listen songs together. To him I am his GUDU

COUSIN(more to me than this figure of speech): joy ...hey guys it's his name although he has many other funny names I call him JOY ..............always filled with joy ..........his presence makes my heart dance with joy.........................when he is with me the rest of the world seems alien to me.............to him I am "tui"...........I can do anything & everything for him.........................I love this little brother of mine sooooooooo much....when he cries on being scolded I too feel crying .............hope none ever scolds him ........he is so innocent

KAKA : A strict person but at the same time a person with a very good sense of humour who can easily within a moment make one laugh..... he has tremendous knowledge about almost everything........... a highly qualified yet modest person....a role model for me(honestly speaking)..........................to him I am "BURKOT"............

needless to mention , music is one such object which can directly reach our heart and hence mind automatically.............one who loves music can love others , himself , his  life............................I love listening to good music (preferably eastern).............my favourite music director so far is hon'ble RAHUL DEV BURMAN (pancham da)................whose variety of compositions is really appreciable.......................ranging from sad to rock ...................his music is always modern..................i thimk generations after generation will love to listen to his music..........after him it's A.R.RAHMAN who has recently earned his awaiting respect by winning two OSCARS   and made us , INDIANS feel proud 

I think life without music is like man without life ...this is my notion about MUSIC ..........qouting WORDSWORTH it is not only a "bliss of solitude"  but also essential for cheering up our mechanical lives.............MUSIC can cool down an anxious mind, heal invisible wounds of soul .

Gandhiji has always tried to establish a sense of non-violence and humanity within "humans"........let us try and think why is he remembered even  so many years after his death.............he was a man of virtue ..a complete human being having all the qualities a "human" should posses ....................his satyagraha is really a stronger protest against injustice , torture , deprivation of rights..............i think stronger than terrorism.....terrorism is actually a weapon of the weak to hide their weakness ......today what is happening throughout the world is no loads better than CANNIBALISM..............ultimately leading none to a solution but the world to an uncertain violent future..........

at this point of time   we really have to think what we want :  gandhism for a peaceful world

I THINK I'M A HONEST GUY....BUT U KNOW IT'S THE JOB OF MY FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES TO FIND THAT OUT ...............FROM MY CHILDHOOD DAYS I LOVE DOING MATHS ......THE MOST BORING SUBJECTS TO ME ARE HISTORY,GEOGRAPHY,BIOLOGY.........STATS & MECHANICS TOO ARE OF GREAT INTEREST TO ME BY THE WAY I AM PROUD TO BE A STUDENT OF SUCH A SCHOOL THAT HAS WORLDWIDE FAME....a home away from home to me............south point..............tillnow i have spent only a few months in college .....JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY rocks!!! i have to admit this ........at any point of time u will find urself engaged in classtests , sem , cultural fests, tech fests, even things like GB, michil , gherao , remonstrance...........democratic atmosphere unlike many other institutions ......let me spend a few days more here ...i will be able to tell u more.........
